Roof Replacement, Siding and Gutters in Hendersonville, NC

Subdivision roofs from the 1990s and 2000s are coming due across Henderson County. We inspect them for free and quote in person.

Hendersonville is the Henderson County seat, twenty-five miles south of our office down I-26, and it has grown into one of the larger towns in Western North Carolina on the strength of retirees who came for the climate and stayed. The downtown along Main Street is older brick, Laurel Park climbs the hill to the west, Flat Rock with the Carl Sandburg home and the playhouse sits just south, and the apple orchards start east of town toward Edneyville. Around all of that are the subdivisions: ranches and two-story homes built from the 1990s through the 2010s in neighborhoods off Kanuga Road, Haywood Road, Spartanburg Highway and Upward Road.

Those subdivisions are where a lot of the roofing work in Hendersonville is heading. A roof installed in 1998 with a shingle rated for twenty-five years is at the end of its life, and the ones from the 2000s are not far behind. The valley floor here is lower and flatter than Asheville or the Haywood County towns, around 2,200 feet, so ice is less of a factor and heat and sun do more of the aging. Summer thunderstorms bring the wind, and Henderson County sees hail on occasion, enough that a roof should be looked at after any storm that leaves dents in the gutters or the car.

We cover Hendersonville, Laurel Park, Flat Rock, Fletcher, Mills River and the rest of Henderson County from Asheville. The process does not change: a free inspection with photos, a written itemized price, and an exterior consultant at your table to go through it. Roof replacement is the main job, but we also do repairs, vinyl siding and seamless gutters, and because one crew handles all three, the exterior can be done as a single scheduled project rather than three contractors over three months.

Our Services in Hendersonville

Roof Replacement

Most Hendersonville replacements are gable and hip roofs on homes built in the last thirty years, which means the job is about doing the details right rather than solving an old-house puzzle: full tear-off, decking checked sheet by sheet, new synthetic underlayment, ice barrier in the valleys, drip edge, ridge vent and an architectural shingle. We clean the yard at the end of every day the job runs.

Roof Repair

Not every twenty-five-year-old roof needs replacing this year. A lifted ridge cap after a thunderstorm, a cracked pipe boot, a leak where a skylight was added, these are repairs, and we will tell you so. When the shingles are brittle enough that walking on them does damage, we will tell you that too.

Siding

Vinyl siding on a 1990s subdivision home has had thirty summers of sun by now, and the faded, brittle or buckled panels are usually on the south and west walls. We replace siding over new house wrap, square up the trim at windows and corners, and can do it as part of a roof job so the ladders and the crew only come once.

Gutters

Flatter lots in Hendersonville mean water sits where it lands, so downspouts that dump next to the slab or the crawlspace vents are a bigger problem here than in the mountains. We install seamless gutters sized for the roof, run the downspouts away from the foundation, and clean and repair existing systems.

Everything else we do is on the services page.

Retirement Homes and the Replacement Wave

Henderson County has a large retiree population, and a lot of Hendersonville homeowners bought their house in the 1990s or 2000s planning to stay. The roof that came with it is now the single biggest exterior expense on the horizon. The questions are usually the same: how many more years can I get out of it, what does a replacement actually cost, and can I do the siding at the same time. The free inspection answers the first two with photos and a written number, and we are honest about it when the right answer is a repair and a few more years.

If your insurance carrier has asked about the age of the roof at renewal, an inspection report with photos and a dated written estimate gives you something to send them. We write the report the same way whether you hire us or not, so it is worth having even if the roof turns out to be fine.

Hail, Summer Storms and the Valley Floor

Hendersonville does not get the ice that Waynesville and Maggie Valley do, but it gets the summer. Afternoon thunderstorms build over the mountains to the west and come across the valley with straight-line wind, and now and then one of them carries hail. Hail damage on an architectural shingle is hard to see from the ground: it bruises the mat and knocks granules loose, and the roof looks fine until it starts shedding in the next heavy rain. If a storm has left dents in your gutters, your mailbox or the hood of the car, it has hit the roof too, and that is the time to have it inspected and photographed, while the damage is fresh and the claim is simple.

The flatter ground also changes drainage. A house on a quarter-acre lot off Haywood Road or in the newer neighborhoods along Upward Road does not have a slope carrying water away, so the gutters and downspouts carry the whole load, and a clogged or undersized gutter puts water against the foundation or into the crawlspace. When we replace a roof we look at the gutters as part of the inspection, and we say so if they are part of the problem.

Why Hendersonville Homeowners Choose Arolite Group

  • A written price you can show to anyone. Photos, line items and an exterior consultant to walk you through it at the kitchen table. If you want to run it past your kids or your insurance agent before deciding, that is what it is for.
  • One crew for roof, siding and gutters. The same people do all three, so an exterior update on a 1990s home is one project with one point of contact, not three contractors to chase.
  • Repair when a repair is right. Plenty of twenty-year-old roofs in Hendersonville have years left. We say so when that is the case and quote the repair instead.
  • Twenty-five minutes up I-26. We are based on Church Street in downtown Asheville, and Henderson County is one of the three counties we cover, so we are around after the job to stand behind it.

Hendersonville Roofing Questions

Do you serve Hendersonville, or only Asheville?

Henderson County is one of the three counties we cover, with Buncombe and Haywood. Hendersonville, Laurel Park, Flat Rock, Fletcher and Mills River are all regular territory, about twenty-five minutes from our office in Asheville.

My Hendersonville roof is from the late 1990s. Does it need replacing?

Not necessarily. A free inspection tells you whether it has years left, whether a repair makes sense or whether it is at the end. You get photos and a written estimate either way.

Can you check a roof for hail damage after a summer storm?

Yes. Hail damage is hard to spot from the ground, so we get on the roof, photograph it and give you a written write-up you can send to your insurance company. We help with the insurance side if there is a claim.

Can the siding be replaced at the same time as the roof?

Yes. We do roofing, siding and gutters as one company, so the whole exterior can be scheduled as one project with one point of contact.

Which shingles do you install in Hendersonville?

We install architectural shingle systems from manufacturers such as CertainTeed, with new underlayment, drip edge and ventilation. An exterior consultant goes through the options and the price with you in person.

Is financing available for a Hendersonville roof?

Yes. Financing is available, and you can go through the options with the exterior consultant at the estimate. Our hours are Monday to Saturday, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
